It was all joy and memorable at the Tosway Hotel last Saturday the 22nd of December, 2018 as the night witnessed the monumental launch of the Upcoming Artiste Association of Ghana (UAAG) which saw about hundred members of the association parade with great excitement to what seems to be the salvation to their long-suffering musical career.
Never-fading smiles were written all over the faces of these energetic and creative future super stars realizing their dreams of reaching higher heights with their respective talents won’t be cut off due to the birth of UWAG to enable them put their musical artworks out for the world to see.
With the motto, “Creating Stars through Music”, the Upcoming Artiste Association of Ghana (UAAG) masterminded by Ghana’s own radio and television personality Ama Adomaa Obideaba popularly known in the entertainment and media circles as Ama Yopoo seeks to provide a platform where underground musicians can exhibit their unique talents and push their music into the commercial music market giving them the spotlight they deserve to thrive in the competitive industry.
The launch began with a red carpet and journeyed into the night with spectacular music performances by Mama Comfort, Vimbi, Scoti, Amlalo, Nana Agyemeng and some of the members of UAAG with Dj Nayeb of Vision OneFM on the turn tables who throughout the event at given times thrilled invited guests leaving them with no option but to jump on their feet dancing.
In attendance at the launch was some music industry stakeholders, some executives of Vision One FM and Light TV, a representative of MUSIGA as well as wishers and music lovers.
Master of Ceremony at the grand launch was Vision One FM’s own news anchor Kwaku Acquah.
Chairing the launch was the Drive Time host of Vision One FM, Prophet Kay. He announced at the event that considering his gospel background and ministerial position in the work of God, his office is ready to promote the songs of the gospel musicians in the association to the best of their capacity adding that he is ready and open to offer any help to the upcoming artistes of UAAG.
The President and Founder of Upcoming Artiste Association of Ghana (UAAG), Ama Yopoo speaking to BANBOONLINE NEWS said, the association is going to be responsible for the production which includes music recording, promotion and the production of music videos for its members.
She called on the relevant authorities such as the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Creative Arts and the Musician’s Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) headed by Bice Osei Kufuor a.k.a Obuor to come to the aid of the association.
“Most of the time MUSIGA tends to focus on the big shots in the music industry ignoring and sidelining the up and coming musicians. So I am urging them to intervene in the conditions of these young musicians” She stated.
The President added by admonishing policy makers and those in power who can steer affairs to overturn the plight of the underground and upcoming musicians for their support.
Ama Yopoo pleaded with event organizers and promoters to not only book the A-list artistes for their shows but also include some of the young and capable artistes who haven’t got the opportunity to showcase their music and however added that her association is available and ready to collaborate on business terms in projecting its members’ creative works.
The Vice President of the Upcoming Artiste Association of Ghana (UAAG), Mr Allen Kwaku Fabian told BANBOONLINE NEWS that in respect to branding and grooming of the association members, they have some of the music industry’s best technical experts who will act as facilitators in their capacity to shape and direct the course of their vibrant and promising talents.
“I am a technical person because I play almost all kinds of musical instruments and I also lead a choir so I have ideas musically and will impart it positively to our members which makes me one of the technical trainers” Mr Kwaku Fabian stated.
Mr. Allen Kwaku Fabian who doubles as the Public Relations Officer of the Upcoming Artiste Association of Ghana (UWAG), indicated that the process of music production and promotion of the artistes will be well structured. According to him, when an artiste is ready with his written song, the technical team will review it to ensure the material is well enhanced so as to avoid shoddy work done by the artistes which will in turn affect the association.
He is of the belief that content put out in the commercial market should be business worthy and must be one that will easily resonate with music lovers in Ghana and beyond.
Mr Fabian however confirmed that whatever earnings derived from the bookings of the association members solely goes to the artiste.
Branded in the UWAG LaCoste shirt, some of the artistes present at the launch expressed relief and was grateful to their president Ama Yopoo for embarking on this selfless and developmental initiative.

Being underground I have recorded a lot of songs but all have been shelved in my room for the past three(3)years now because I don’t have anybody to sponsor me; None of my songs has had a single airplay on radio before but I believe after joining this association things will be different.” – Reuben N, Hiplife Artiste
Anchoring the official unveiling of the Association’s banner was the nation’s spiritual IGP assisted by Prophet Kay the Chairman of the event.
Giving her vote of thanks the President of UAAG extended her heartfelt gratitude to MUSIGA, GHAMRO, Asamoah Gyan and Baffour Gyan not forgetting Samuel Anim Addo including her sponsors Paradise Pac Treated Drinking Water, Unity Oil and all staff and management of Light tv, Vision One FM and all well wishers who in one way or the other contributed to make this idea come into fruition.
Joined by all gathered at the launch the executives of the UAAG and members cut the cake to signify the birth of a new phase in the music industry in Ghana and to celebrate its success.
A cake was also cut for Blessing Koomson one of the UAAG members who marked her birthday on that memorable night.
